The Unitron V Moxi 7 RS in review
We are once again in the test lab, and this time we had a product from Unitron in our hands or rather, on our ear. The full product name is V Moxi 7 RS, and it falls into the high-end category of devices. Due to the comfortable position of the speaker in the ear canal, it has good acoustic properties. The V Moxi 7 RS is worn behind the ear, and it is a small hearing aid suitable for mild, moderate, and even severe hearing losses.
Hearing comfort
First, we assess the hearing comfort features. What types of sounds does the hearing aid recognize? How does it handle them? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied daily life? Here, with this test device, the manufacturer provides the customer with a comprehensive sound management system. As in all hearing aids, we also find the typical noise cancellation here. It is supposed to reduce monotonous, noisy ambient sounds to the point where they no longer dominate. The V Moxi 7 RS includes substantial, well-functioning noise reduction.
Wind noise is always an issue when the hearing aid microphones are somewhat exposed. With the V Moxi 7 RS, this is not a problem at all, as it features intelligent, effective wind noise cancellation. It not only mitigates audible turbulence but also maintains speech understanding. Extremely useful is the impulse noise suppression. It captures all clattering, banging, and crackling sounds and reliably dampens them. With 20 channels, the frequency band count in the V Moxi 7 RS is very high. This allows the hearing aid to be perfectly adjusted to any hearing and offers good long-term tuning options. We are satisfied with the spatial functions. The hearing aid has adaptive microphones that support spatial hearing very well.
Artificial intelligence has also made its way into hearing aids, as seen in the V Moxi 7 RS. This provides significantly more data for identifying speech and noise. In our experience, the sound of hearing aids with AI is perceived as particularly precise and realistic.

Operation & connectivity
The operation options for hearing aids are today as simple or as complex as anyone would like. The basic functions operate completely automatically, of course. We wanted to know how users can access the V Moxi 7 RS beyond that. For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume, there is a button on the device. You can also select other programs for special listening situations through it. If desired, there is a remote control for the hearing aid, allowing for effortless volume adjustment. The handling is not only child's play, but no one will notice that you are adjusting your hearing aids.
Voice control is a contemporary way to operate hearing aids. Unitron has integrated this feature into its model, saving us the trouble of feeling for a small button. With sensor technology, Unitron is taking an innovative approach and opening up entirely new opportunities. For example, there is a tap control for the V Moxi 7 RS. Simply tap briefly but noticeably with your flat hand or a few fingers on your ear shell. The hearing aid can then perform a specific function, such as switching to a special setting. Your audiologist can configure this according to your wishes.
It is very convenient to adjust the hearing aids via the app. There is also a free app for the V Moxi 7 RS. In our opinion, the range of features is mediocre, but usually sufficient. It’s best to try it out in demo mode beforehand. Problems with phone calls on your smartphone are a thing of the past with this device. Calls, music, and other sounds are completely transmitted wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls as well as listening to music while exercising. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a compatible smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is required.

Simplicity & security
Another point in our checklist is the handling. Does everything work simply and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe use in everyday life? A well-functioning situation recognition creates a lot of relaxation in everyday hearing. You don’t have to constantly switch between settings and can comfortably rely on automated adjustments. The integrated acclimatization manager can be of great help when starting to use hearing aids. Its job is to gradually increase the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until the target volume is reached. This way, you can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions. More information on acclimatization and other hearing aids with this feature can be found here: Acclimatization to Hearing Aids.
The V Moxi 7 RS comes with a charger, as it has built-in batteries. This is modern, user-friendly, and something we expect from a contemporary hearing aid.
The V Moxi 7 is nearly dust and water-resistant and, with its IP 68 rating, is certainly well protected against external influences.

Unitron V Moxi 7 RS:
Extras
As apps and hearing aids themselves have more and more storage space, it is worth taking a look at possible extra functions. Here's what it looks like: The tinnitus program is definitely worth mentioning. Those who are troubled by annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, quiet sounds are set up to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus fades into the background noise and is no longer noticeable.
We find the remote maintenance service exciting that one can use. If someone doesn't have the opportunity to go to the hearing care professional, they can instead contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they load it into their hearing aids.
Many hearing aids today still come with a few health functions. However, since the V Moxi 7 RS does not have any special sensors for that, we cannot present any particular features here. The hearing aid does without additional functions such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or language translators. This is not a big deal, as it has no impact on the important hearing functions.
