Widex offers the Magnify 100 CIC, a petite, small hearing aid that is worn in the ear. It is a hearing aid from the affordable segment and is suitable for mild to moderate hearing needs. By placing it directly in the ear canal, it ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without loss.
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how pleasant hearing is experienced in everyday life. For this hearing aid, we found only a few options for influencing comfort. A classic noise suppression system is supposed to reduce annoying background noises to a tolerable level. The effectiveness of the noise suppression in the Magnify 100 CIC is slightly above the required minimum. Still, the sounds will be audible. Those who enjoy spending time outdoors will like this Widex device. Usually, wind noises can be quite bothersome, but here they play no role because the outer ear provides good mechanical protection.
Unfortunately, we did not find a noise filter that responds to short, loud sounds. Tools for spatial hearing are lacking here; nonetheless, we give it full marks. The spatial hearing is preserved because the hearing aid sits directly in the ear canal. And that is where sound reaches, even for those who do not wear a hearing aid. This is a real advantage of this special, small design. We do not find the low number of frequency channels to be optimal. The device only has 6 of them, which offers little flexibility during initial programming and long-term adjustments, and sound quality compromises may need to be accepted.
Widex does not yet use artificial intelligence in this version.

Operation & connectivity
Most hearing aids automatically adapt to their surroundings. However, it can be very practical to make some changes yourself sometimes. After all, the hearing aid doesn’t know how you are feeling at the moment. We looked at the control options offered by the Magnify 100 CIC: We searched in vain for a button for quick access options. It has probably fallen victim to the small design. That can be lived with since most settings are made automatically by the hearing aid anyway. A remote control is available for the Magnify 100 CIC. It’s quite practical, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume control and various hearing programs.
In our test, we found no option for voice control. This function is not necessarily required but would have pleased us. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple tap in this Widex model since it would have required certain sensors in the case.
If you like, you can download an app. This provides a convenient and discreet way to adjust the volume or hearing programs on the Magnify 100 CIC. It all works quite well. A smartphone or tablet can be easily connected to a small streaming device that wirelessly transmits sound to the hearing aid.

The first points in the chapter on simplicity are missed by the Magnify 100 CIC, as it does not feature automatic situation adjustment. We have to manually adjust it until we can manage in the respective hearing situation. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.
Zinc-air batteries power the Magnify 100 CIC. Changing the battery could be quite challenging for people with limited dexterity or vision. If you are concerned about this, you might want to consider a rechargeable model.
The hearing aid has been rated with an IP68 protection class. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust ingress. Water cannot easily harm the hearing aid either. This makes it well-equipped for outdoor activities, where it can get wet and dirty. However, you should still avoid bathing or swimming with the hearing aids. Bath additives or even the salt content in seawater can change the composition and may ultimately cause damage.

The tinnitus fades into the general noise and no longer bothers you. This is a simple but effective tool, and we give it extra points.
Widex keeps up with the times and offers a future-oriented feature with the remote adjustment service. Busy people with little time can contact their audiologist online and have their hearing aids reprogrammed. Hearing aid users who have a longer commute to the specialist shop also benefit from this special service.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Widex model lacks the sensors for this service.
