Widex presents the Magnify 60 M-CIC, a model from the low-budget range. It can compensate for mild to moderate hearing loss. It is a delicate, small hearing aid that provides good sound quality due to its position directly in the ear canal. It is worn in the ear.
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how enjoyable hearing is perceived in everyday life. With this hearing aid, we found very few options for comfort influence. A classic noise suppression is supposed to reduce annoying background noises to a bearable level. In the Magnify 60 M-CIC, it only works very limited. Looking at the price, that could indeed be fitting. Wind noise is not an issue with this hearing aid, as the microphones are positioned deep enough in the ear canal that the wind doesn't reach them at all. So there is no need for an electronic wind manager here.
A pulse sound attenuator is unfortunately not included in the Magnify 60 M-CIC. With the Magnify 60 M-CIC, you don't have to reconstruct 3D hearing; it remains completely normal. This is made possible by the deep seating in the ear canal. The settings in the equalizer are rather basic. The frequency response is divided into 6 segments. Within these individual areas, nothing can be changed further. This could lead to a few sound weaknesses of the Magnify 60 M-CIC, and the separation of speech and background noise does not succeed as we would actually wish.
Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but this device has not yet reached that point.

Operation & connectivity
“Can I adjust something on my hearing aid myself?” “Is there maybe an app?” These and similar questions are becoming increasingly important when choosing a hearing aid, so let’s take a look at the operating and connection options. Unfortunately, this hearing aid lacks a direct control option. This is probably due to the small size. However, this doesn’t have to be a disadvantage, as often the automatic functions are sufficient. We would have liked a remote control, but Widex does not offer one for this model. So no points here.
For some time now, there has been a trend to adjust hearing aids louder or quieter using voice commands. The idea is really good, but Widex is not there yet with this device. Don’t worry about it; this feature would be nice, but it is dispensable. Tap Control would also have been an interesting function. With this, you can change the function with a quick tap on your ear. But this is not available in the Magnify 60 M-CIC yet.
Widex does have a suitable app for easier operation. However, it is not particularly well-equipped and hardly goes beyond the basic functions like volume control and hearing programs. A wireless connection to a smartphone or laptop is not possible, as the corresponding hardware components are missing. One should consider carefully whether one can do without this feature, but feel free to try it out.

Simplicity & security
An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its suitability for everyday use. This includes, for example, automated functions, as well as robustness and user-friendliness. We would have liked a program automation in the Magnify 60 M-CIC that adjusts itself to the environment. However, this is not available, so unfortunately, we have to deduct points here. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new auditory experiences.
The Magnify 60 M-CIC uses battery power instead of rechargeable batteries. Advantage: Very long runtime with a single battery. Unlike rechargeable solutions, you rarely have to worry about the power supply. Disadvantage: There is waste in the form of used batteries. This hearing aid uses a size 10 hearing aid battery.
We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and discover in the data sheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

Bevor wir zum Ende kommen, werfen wir noch einen Blick auf die Extras: Auf jeden Fall erwähnenswert ist das Tinnitusprogramm. Davon werden all jene profitieren, die von lästigen Ohrgeräuschen geplagt werden. Angenehme, leise Geräusche werden so eingestellt, dass sie den Tinnitus sanft umspielen. Am Ende versinkt der Tinnitus in der Geräuschkulisse und fällt gar nicht mehr störend auf.
Ein Online-Kontakt zum Hörakustiker über die App wäre sehr nützlich. Das ist heute schon recht verbreitet und sorgt für Hilfe bei kleinen Einstellungsproblemen. Leider verzichtet Widex darauf und verdient sich damit auch keine Extrapunkte.
Viele Hörgeräte haben heute noch ein paar Gesundheits-Funktionen dabei. Da das Magnify 60 M-CIC aber keine speziellen Sensoren dafür hat, können wir hier keine Besonderheiten vorstellen. Der Funktionsumfang im Magnify 60 M-CIC beschränkt sich auf das normale Hören, was auch völlig in Ordnung ist. Zusatzfunktionen wie Sturzalarm oder Siri-Verknüpfungen haben schon einen ordentlichen Mehrwert, sind aber für einen guten Hörausgleich nicht relevant.
