Widex offers the Moment 110 CIC, a small, barely visible hearing aid that is worn in the ear. It is a hearing aid from a solid mid-range price category and is suitable for mild, moderate, and even severe hearing losses. The barely noticeable placement in the ear canal ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without any losses.
Hearing comfort
The hearing comfort decides whether someone likes to wear their hearing aids or not. Therefore, we first looked at how the hearing aid handles background noise. In this model presented to us by Widex, we found limited options for influencing comfort. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to mitigate annoying background noises. With the Moment 110 CIC, we had hoped for a bit more adjustment depth, but – well. In this model, wind noise management can be omitted. The hearing aid fits so far into the ear canal that wind noises are not an issue at all.
Unfortunately, we did not find a noise filter that responds to short, loud sounds. With the Moment 110 CIC, 3D hearing does not need to be reconstructed, as it remains entirely normal. This is made possible by the deep fit in the ear canal. As for the number of adjustable equalizer bands, we are dealing with 6 on a rather simple device. Of course, one can understand with it, but the sound is not quite what we actually desire.
Strategies based on artificial intelligence are not yet deployed in this hearing aid from Widex.

Operation & connectivity
“Can I adjust something on my hearing aid myself?” “Is there maybe an app?” These and similar questions are becoming increasingly important when choosing a hearing aid, which is why we’ll take a look at the control and connection options. We couldn’t find a button, which is a shame. Let’s see further. Those who don’t like to touch their ear to turn up the volume will be pleased with the optional remote control. This allows for comfortable and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
The modern method of control via voice command is currently not available in the Moment 110 CIC. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without having to press a button. However, this feature has not yet been implemented here.
An app for individual control is available for free. However, we only find basic functions here that are useful, but the app isn’t really enjoyable to use. A smartphone or tablet can be easily connected to a small streaming device that wirelessly transmits sound to the hearing aid.

Of course, we are also interested in how quickly one can get used to the Moment 110 CIC and how easy daily use is. We receive relatively little support from the program automation in the Moment 110 CIC. Without a few individual hearing programs, one will probably struggle in a lively everyday environment. We award a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the initial volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is achieved. This significantly eases the adjustment to the new sound.
The Moment 110 CIC is not rechargeable. It continues to get its energy from size 10 disposable batteries, which need to be replaced every few days.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, and it can also endure longer submersion in water, and it is resistant to touches as well.

Lastly, we are interested in whether there are a few goodies on top: Widex has integrated a sound generator that plays some soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
A clever tool is the integrated remote maintenance service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a scarce resource. Therefore, such a remote maintenance service is absolutely appropriate. Those who need a new programming for their hearing aids can easily contact the acoustician via the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send a customized setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. This definitely deserves extra points in our test.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors that can track a few personal health data, for instance. However, the Moment 110 CIC does not offer this. Other hearing aids already have some extended options such as a fall alarm or reminder functions. We do not find this here, and that's not so dramatic, as the normal hearing functions are still the most important.
