First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it is the simplest and quickest way to make adjustments. The volume can be adjusted through it, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If someone prefers not to change anything directly on the ear, the button can of course be deactivated. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very handy. For us, this is one of the most convenient ways to increase or decrease the hearing aid volume or switch to another hearing program. No one notices anything, a hand to the ear is not necessary.
The modern form of operation using voice commands is not yet found in the G5 16 P HdO. Some hearing aids can be controlled with a quick tap of the finger without needing to press a button. However, this feature has not yet been implemented here.
A manual control includes an app. This allows for discreet access to the hearing aid. In addition to volume control, hearing programs and a few other functions can be set. Problems when making calls with a smartphone are a thing of the past with this device. Phone calls, music, and other sounds are transmitted completely wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls and while listening to music during sports. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a suitable smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is needed.

The automatic situation detection is highly valued in our test. The better it works, the easier our hearing gets through the day. The G5 16 P BTE performs this task confidently and adapts to many situations. We give a big plus for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing target is reached. This makes it much easier to get used to the new sound.
The G5 16 P BTE is not equipped with a rechargeable battery. Instead, it uses a hearing aid battery size 13. It needs to be replaced every few days.
The G5 16 is almost dust and waterproof and with its IP 68 rating, it is certainly well protected against external influences.

Extras
Before we come to the end, let's take a look at the extras: Audio Service has integrated a noise generator that plays some soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
What about remote maintenance? Such online services eliminate the need for a visit to the specialist store because you can directly contact the acoustics professional through the app. Unfortunately, we did not find such a service for the G5 16 P HdO. It's a pity; it would have been a great additional tool.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors that can track, for example, some personal health data. However, the G5 16 P HdO does not offer this. This Audio Service hearing aid has no additional lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need those for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
