For this audio service device, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive noise management. The standard noise suppression is designed to mitigate uniform, hissing background noises. In the G8 12 DIC, we would rate the noise reduction as average. It is sufficient if you don't live in a very noisy environment.
In our test, we also discovered impulse sound control. Short, popping sounds are dampened by this feature. It works reasonably well here, but we are not in the top-tier range. A multi-stage wind noise management system is also included. This ensures that listening outdoors is pleasant and trouble-free. With the G8 12 DIC, there is no need to reconstruct 3D hearing, as it remains completely intact. This is made possible by its deep fit in the ear canal. With 18 frequency channels, the G8 12 DIC clearly belongs to the better devices and allows for an individualized, good-sounding programming.
Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but that is not yet the case with this device.

Operation & connectivity
Everyone has their own unique hearing needs. It's advantageous if one can customize their hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In the test, we discovered the following access options: First, we're interested in whether there is a button on the device. Unfortunately, with the DIC, we were disappointed; there is no immediate adjustment option. A discreet way to change the hearing aid is with the remote control. It fits in any pocket. When the person speaking is too quiet, just one or two clicks are enough to adjust the volume. Additional hearing programs for listening to music or driving can also be activated with the remote control.
Voice commands are a relatively new way to operate hearing aids. However, in this model, we don't have this option yet. That's not too bad - the main thing is that one can hear well. Besides buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also have tap control. This means that one can simply tap their ear briefly to switch the device. However, we don't have that feature here at Audio Service; it would have required specific sensors.
The app is not one of our highlights. But at least there is one. And in times when nearly every hearing aid user also owns a smartphone, it is definitely useful. However, a connection option to other audio sources is not provided here. It's a pity, as a wireless streaming function would have offered real added value.

Simplicity & security
Another point in our checklist is handling. Does everything work simply and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe use in everyday life? In the G8 12 DIC, we experienced an effective automatic situation management that supports our hearing well. This already ensures that we don’t have to constantly adjust the hearing aid. The adaptation to the new hearing experience is supported by this device with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I don’t have to do anything other than wear my hearing aids regularly.
The G8 12 DIC gets its power from small disposable batteries that need to be changed every few days. While this is not rocket science, it should be considered, especially in cases of motor issues. A rechargeable battery would be significantly easier to handle.
We had a carefree everyday life in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bathwater or seawater.

Sometimes there are additional features in hearing aids that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this Audio Service device: The tinnitus program is definitely worth mentioning. Those who suffer from annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, soft sounds are adjusted to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus fades into the background noise and is no longer disruptive at all.
In mobile times like these, a remote maintenance service via an app would be very helpful. This would allow one to conveniently get a new hearing aid programming done from home. Unfortunately, this service is not available for the G8 12 DIC. So, for any changes, one still has to visit the specialized store.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the G8 12 DIC. The hearing aid also does without additional features like special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or speech translators. This is not a big deal, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
