In this test report, we take a look at the Encanta 200 IIC. It was developed by Bernafon and covers almost every hearing need. This variant is worn in the ear. The Encanta 200 IIC is a truly small hearing aid from the premium price range. We achieve clean sound transmission through its perfect, very deep placement in the ear canal.
Hearing comfort
In the section on hearing comfort, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noise. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. With this Bernafon device, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive sound management. The regular noise suppression aims to dampen uniform, noise-like background sounds. In the Encanta 200 IIC, we are not dealing with the most powerful variant, but in everyday life, the noise suppression should be sufficient.
In our test, we also discovered impulse sound control. Short, popping sounds are dampened by this. It works fairly well here, but we are not in the top class. Wind noise is only perceived as disturbing when it directly hits a hearing aid microphone. However, since this model from Bernafon sits very deep in the ear canal, this cannot happen. Therefore, this device is ideal for outdoor-oriented people. There are no features for spatial hearing here, yet we give it full marks. Spatial hearing is preserved because the hearing aid sits directly in the ear canal. And that’s where sound reaches even non-hearing aid users. This is a real advantage of this specific, small design. 18 adjustable equalizer bands provide enough room to generate a reliable, custom listening experience.
Understanding speech in noisy environments is always a challenge. Bernafon addresses this by using artificial intelligence. The result is brilliant and clear speech transmission while the surrounding sounds still come through realistically loud to the ear.

Operation & connectivity
Occasionally, one finds themselves in situations where it would be good if the hearing aid was somehow set differently. After all, we live in hectic times, where the acoustic environment frequently changes as well. Most hearing aids have specific options for this purpose, allowing users to influence the settings themselves. This is how it looks with the Encanta 200 IIC: We searched in vain for a button as a quick access option. It has likely fallen victim to its small size. This is manageable since most settings are automatically adjusted by the hearing aid anyway. We would have liked a remote control, but Bernafon does not offer one for this model. So that's a downside here.
In the test, we did not find any voice control capability. This feature is not necessarily required but would have been nice nonetheless. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple tap in this Bernafon model, as it would have required specific sensors in the casing.
Although smartphone apps are offered for many hearing aids today, Bernafon unfortunately does not yet provide one for its Encanta 200 IIC. The smartphone cannot connect to the hearing aid, as it unfortunately lacks the necessary equipment with a radio antenna.

The Encanta 200 IIC has a solid everyday automation that is likely sufficient for a calmer life. However, for more complex listening environments, we recommend the additional manual programs. This device supports the adjustment to the new hearing experience with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I don't have to do anything other than wear my hearing aids regularly.
Many hearing aids today have a rechargeable battery, but the Encanta 200 IIC continues to operate on disposable batteries. This can be somewhat cumbersome to handle and also puts a strain on the environment.
The hearing aid has been classified under IP protection class 68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust ingress. Water also cannot easily harm the hearing aid. Thus, it is well-equipped for outdoor activities, where it can get wet and dirty. However, do not go swimming or bathing with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can change the composition and ultimately cause harm.

Wir alle mögen Goodies, dehalb schauen wir als letztes auf die Extras, die im Hörgerät möglicherweise versteckt sind. Häufig implementieren die Hersteller ein Tinnitusprogramm in ihre Hörgeräte, um das nervige Pfeifen ein wenig abzumildern. Bernafon hat in diesem Modell jedoch darauf verzichtet. Das ist bedauerlich, denn das wäre für viele Menschen ein echter Zusatznutzen.
Ein Online-Kontakt zum Hörakustiker über die App wäre sehr nützlich. Das ist heute schon recht verbreitet und sorgt für Hilfe bei kleinen Einstellungsproblemen. Leider verzichtet Bernafon darauf und verdient sich damit auch keine Extrapunkte.
Sensoren gibt es in dieser Encanta 200-Variante nicht, so dass auch das beliebte Gesundheits-Tracking nicht angeboten werden kann. Dabei werden z.B. die Schritte über den Tag gezählt. Wie gesagt - dieses Hörgerät hat diese Funktion nicht an Bord. Der Funktionsumfang im Encanta 200 IIC beschränkt sich auf das normale Hören, was auch völlig in Ordnung ist. Zusatzfunktionen wie Sturzalarm oder Siri-Verknüpfungen haben schon einen ordentlichen Mehrwert, sind aber für einen guten Hörausgleich nicht relevant.
