What exactly can the Entra B 10 MNB T from the manufacturer Bernafon do? First of all, it is a conventional hearing aid that sits behind the ear. It covers moderate to severe hearing losses. This model is a fairly small hearing aid from the more affordable price range. What can it achieve in everyday hearing? What comfort features does it offer? We have taken a closer look at it.

Hearing comfort

Our first test category is listening comfort. Actually, we could also say sound comfort, because that's what it's mainly about. Does the hearing aid sound very technical or beautifully natural? Are too many background noises amplified, or are they kept nicely in the background? In this device from Bernafon, we find only the absolute essentials regarding listening comfort. The noise reduction feature is a very traditional function; it filters out all chaotic, uniform sounds from the environment and reduces their volume. We shouldn't expect too much from the Entra B 10 MNB T. Speech and sounds are quite close together here. But in acoustically simple situations, that should be sufficient.

 

This device can recognize wind and slightly attenuate the noise. Unfortunately, we did not find a burst filter that responds to short, loud noises. The Entra B 10 MNB T has 12 adjustable frequency bands, which places it in the mid-range. A good acoustician can certainly extract a reasonable sound from it. Those who desire good 3D hearing will be disappointed here. The right and left hearing aids do not synchronize, and the microphones lack additional functions. This makes it difficult to reliably localize sound sources through hearing.

 

Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but this is not the case with this device yet.

Operation & connectivity

Most features of this Bernafon model are activated automatically. However, it can be very useful to have the option to expand the functionality a bit further. In our test, we found out what options we have here. First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it is the easiest and fastest way to make adjustments. The volume can be adjusted through this, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If one prefers not to adjust anything directly on the ear, the button can, of course, be disabled. We do like small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows discreet adjustments to the volume or sound.

In the test, we did not find any option for voice control. This feature is not absolutely necessary, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. Some hearing aids can also be operated with a quick tap, without the need to press a button. However, this feature is not yet implemented here.

In the App Store, we also find a suitable application from Bernafon. The app for the Entra B 10 MNB T is not one of our highlights, but it has everything you need for your hearing systems. Problems with smartphone calls are a thing of the past with this device. Phone calls, music, and other sounds are completely transmitted wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during lengthy phone calls and while listening to music during sports. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a suitable smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is needed.

Now let's briefly talk about everyday usability. Is the Entra B 10 MNB T user-friendly and easy to handle? Does it have water protection? Here are our findings: An automatic environmental adaptation would certainly be helpful in everyday life, but unfortunately, it is not provided in the Entra B 10 MNB T. Therefore, we have to rely on the manual adjustment options. Getting used to the new hearing experience is supported by this device with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in hardly noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I don’t have to do anything else but wear my hearing aids regularly.

The Entra B 10 MNB T gets its power from small disposable batteries that need to be changed every few days. While this is not rocket science, it should be considered, especially for those with motor skills issues. A rechargeable battery would be significantly easier to handle.

We had a carefree everyday experience in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands – no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bathwater or saltwater.

Everyone is happy about a few extra features, so let's see if we can find something here: Worth mentioning is the tinnitus program. It will benefit all those who are plagued by annoying ear noises. Pleasant, quiet sounds are tuned in such a way that they gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus blends into the soundscape and becomes hardly noticeable.

You get a very good additional benefit from the remote maintenance offer. Through the app, you can contact your audiologist and describe your hearing problem. They can adjust the settings accordingly and load them into the hearing aids via the app. This is a great service for people with little time or a long commute.

Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Entra B 10 MNB T. Digital algorithms and suitable apps increasingly allow the integration of lifestyle features that support your everyday life. We are impressed with what hearing aids like this one from Bernafon can do today. You should definitely try it out!
