In this model that Hansaton presents to us, solid comfort programming by the audiologist is possible. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to alleviate exhausting background sounds. The jazz XC Pro 3 10 IIC reliably detects environmental noise, but reduces it only moderately. Wind is also a topic that can restrict listening comfort outdoors. However, the jazz XC Pro 3 10 IIC handles it confidently and activates wind noise suppression in such situations. By the way, this can be adjusted in stages.
Short, loud sounds are quickly recognized and effectively reduced in the jazz XC Pro 3 10 IIC, thanks to a controllable impulse sound absorber. There are no instruments for spatial hearing here, yet we still award full points. This is because the spatial hearing is preserved, as the hearing aid sits directly in the ear canal. Operation & connectivity
Most functions are activated automatically by this Hansaton model. However, it can be very useful to have the option to extend the functionality a little bit. In our test, we found out which options we have available. For those who want to adjust the volume quickly and easily, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special listening situations through it. Unfortunately, this hearing aid cannot be adjusted with a remote control – a few points are lost there.
Voice commands are quite a new way to operate hearing aids. However, we do not have this option in this model yet. That's not a big deal – as long as you can hear well. Another option to control the hearing aids is a tap control. You simply tap your fingers on your ear, which triggers a specific function. However, this feature is not available in this Hansaton device.
Quickly adjusting the volume via the app – unfortunately, this is not possible with the jazz XC Pro 3 10 IIC. There is no app available for this. However, that is irrelevant if you are not a smartphone user anyway. Wireless connectivity options are completely lacking in this version. This is not very up-to-date, but it is probably due to the small size of the hearing aid.

Simplicity & security
Usability is the next aspect we want to focus on. This is about everyday practicality and the question of how easy and safe it is to live with the hearing aid. We had expected a bit more support in everyday hearing with automatic situation recognition. The situations "Quiet" and "Noise" are recognized, but usually, the sound environment is a bit more complex. Very important to us in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization phase. Especially after having poor hearing for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. Our test device has an acclimatization manager that helps us with very small volume adjustments throughout the adjustment phase. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
Unfortunately, the jazz XC Pro 3 10 IIC is not equipped with a battery, so regular size 10 batteries are needed for operation.
For a secure everyday feeling, solid dust and moisture protection is also important. However, there is no IP certification for this model. Presumably, this model is not really well-equipped against intruding dust or moisture. This is outdated and results in point deduction.

Lastly, we are interested in whether there are a few extra goodies: A special tinnitus program can be programmed in the jazz XC Pro 3 10 IIC upon request. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and are happy to award extra points.
An online contact with the audiologist via the app would be very helpful. This is already quite common today and provides assistance with minor adjustment issues. Unfortunately, Hansaton does not offer this and therefore does not earn any extra points.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the jazz XC Pro 3 10 IIC. Other hearing aids already offer a few extended options such as a fall alert or reminder functions. We do not find this here, and that is not so dramatic, as the normal hearing functions are still the most important.
