The Hansaton jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC in review

This time we tested a mini hearing aid about 1 cm long from the higher price range. It is the Hansaton jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC. It is worn in the ear and is intended for mild, moderate, and also severe hearing needs. The hidden position of the device in the rear section of the ear canal is due to its design, which is why it delivers a beautiful, clear sound.

Hearing comfort

What is most bothersome for hearing aid users? Exactly, background noise. That's why we first look at what comfort features the test device includes. The jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC offers customers comprehensive noise management. Basic noise suppression is definitely present. It is designed to dampen constant sounds like street noise or the hum of the air conditioning. In our test device from Hansaton, there is quite respectable noise suppression. Even when things get louder, the listening experience remains pleasant.

Short and sharp sounds are usually annoying, but this model has an adjustable impulse sound control. This makes sounds like cutlery clattering, slamming drawers, or rustling newspapers less unpleasant. The jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC impresses us with its wind reduction and offers good performance in that regard. With 16 adjustable equalizer bands, there is enough room to create a reliable, precise listening experience. While it lacks instruments for spatial hearing, we still give it full marks. Spatial hearing is preserved because the hearing aid sits directly in the ear canal. And that's where sound reaches even for non-hearing aid users. This is a real advantage of this specific, small design.

Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy has not yet been implemented in the jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC.

Operation & connectivity

Every person has their own unique hearing needs. It is advantageous if one can customize their hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In our test, we discovered the following access options: For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume louder or softer, there is a button on the device. Additional programs for specific hearing situations can also be selected through this. Unfortunately, this hearing aid cannot be adjusted via a remote control – that loses a few points.

We are always excited when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control included here. However, that is not currently available in the jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control could be conceivable, which would trigger a specific function by tapping the ear with your fingers. However, this option is not available in the jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC.

We missed an app for the jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC during our test. If operating via smartphone is important to you, you should look for another model. Unfortunately, this variant completely lacks wireless connectivity options. This is no longer quite up-to-date, but likely due to the small size of the hearing aid.

Simplicity & security

An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its practicality in everyday life. This includes, for example, automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. Automatic situation recognition plays a significant role in our test. The better it works, the easier it is for our hearing to get through the day. The jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC performs effectively here and adapts to many situations. The device supports getting used to the new hearing experience with a fully automatic adaptation manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I only need to wear my hearing aids regularly.

jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC is not equipped with a rechargeable battery, so it cannot be recharged. It uses a hearing aid battery size 10 as its power source. This battery needs to be replaced every few days.

Hearing aids are exposed to external influences. However, this model does not have any special coating against moisture or dust. This is unusual nowadays and surprises us. Therefore, optimal care is essential.

Rating Simplicity & security: 3,0

Extras

Everyone appreciates a few extra features, so let's see if we find something here: A special tinnitus program can be programmed into the jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC upon request. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and gladly give extra points.

Unfortunately, there is no option for remote adjustment. Therefore, anyone who requires optimization and wants to change their hearing aid settings must visit an audiologist.

If Hansaton had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even be possible. However, this is not the case here. These points are lost for the jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC in the assessment. The functionality of the jazz XC Pro 7 10 IIC is limited to normal hearing, which is perfectly fine. Additional features such as fall alerts or Siri connections add considerable value, but they are not relevant for good hearing balance.
