To create a hearing aid test report, we take a close look at the hearing aids and wear them ourselves for a while if possible. This time it was the Jet PX 2 IIC from Oticon, a device from a solid mid-range price category that can compensate for mild, moderate, and even severe hearing losses. The Jet PX 2 IIC is a petite, hardly noticeable hearing aid that sits in the ear. Due to its discreet, very deep position in the ear canal, it has already fulfilled the basic requirements for proper sound.
Hearing comfort
In the section about hearing comfort, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noises. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. We found only a few options for comfort influence in this Oticon device. The regular noise suppression has the task of dampening uniform, hissing background noises. The Jet PX 2 IIC features only a very light, non-modifiable noise reduction.
Even in more affordable hearing aids, we often find damping for impulsive, clattering sounds today. But unfortunately, this clever tool is not included here, which is a pity. For active outdoor fans, we always find wind noise management useful. While this device does include one, it is not very effective. It cannot be individually adjusted either. Hearing aids like the Jet PX 2 IIC preserve the natural sense of space that we have experienced since childhood. The function of the outer ear, head size, head shadow effects - all of these parameters create a true, original 3D hearing experience. A few more frequency channels would be desirable, but the existing 12 channels are still quite workable.
Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy is not yet present in the Jet PX 2 IIC.

Operation & connectivity
Digital hearing aids have long evolved beyond simple amplification functions. Apps and other control options significantly expand their functionality, which is why we also look at this important topic with the Jet PX 2 IIC from Oticon. The simplest control option is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has that too. It can be programmed according to your preferences. Would you like a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for step-by-step adjustment of the volume. Or do you need different special programs for your professional life or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. Anyone who prefers to keep everything in automatic mode can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. Unfortunately, this model does not come with a remote control, which we find very disappointing.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Oticon unfortunately cannot yet. It would be practical when fingers are not as agile or simply for those who like smart gadgets. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap, without needing to press a button. However, this feature has not yet been implemented here.
Although smartphone apps are offered for many hearing aids today, Oticon unfortunately does not provide any for its Jet PX 2 IIC yet. A wireless connection to a smartphone or laptop is not possible, as the necessary hardware components are missing. You should think carefully about whether you can do without this feature, but why not just give it a try.

No matter how great the hearing aid sounds: nothing is more unpleasant than a product that constantly presents us with obstacles in everyday life. That’s why simplicity and safety are very important topics in our hearing aid tests: An automatic environmental adjustment would surely be helpful in daily life, but unfortunately, it is not provided in the Jet PX 2 IIC. Therefore, we have to limit ourselves to the manual adjustment options. The integrated acclimatization manager can be a great help for you when entering the world of hearing aids. Its task is to gradually increase the hearing aid's volume in tiny steps until the target volume is reached. This way, you can relax and gradually get used to the new auditory experiences. Jet PX 2 IIC relies on battery power instead of rechargeable batteries. Advantage: Very long runtime with a battery. Unlike battery solutions, you rarely have to worry about the power supply. Disadvantage: Waste is generated in the form of used batteries. This hearing aid uses a hearing aid battery size 10.
We take a look at the robustness of the housing and discover in the datasheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot penetrate, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

What about remote maintenance? Such online services save a trip to the specialist store, as one can contact an acoustic professional directly through the app. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anything like that for the Jet PX 2 IIC. That's a pity; it would have been a great additional tool.
If Oticon had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even take place. However, that is not the case here. These points result in a loss of value for the Jet PX 2 IIC. The functionality of the Jet PX 2 IIC is limited to normal hearing, which is perfectly fine. Additional features like fall alarms or Siri connections do offer a significant added value, but they are not relevant for achieving good sound balance.
