What hearing comfort does the Key 2 ITE-DW offer? How is it operated? Is the purchase worthwhile? Answers to these questions can be found in our review of this hearing aid from ReSound. First, the basics: It is worn in the ear, and due to the placement in the indentation of the auricle, sound can easily travel toward the eardrum. This is important, as only in this way can a really good, broad-band sound be produced.
The Key 2 ITE-DW is a conventionally sized hearing aid from the low-budget range that can cover light, moderate, and severe hearing needs. Read more details:
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how pleasant everyday listening is perceived. In this hearing aid, we find only the absolute essentials regarding listening comfort. A classic noise suppression aims to reduce annoying background noises to a bearable level. In the Key 2 ITE-DW, it works only very limited. Glancing at the price, that could indeed fit. There is a basic wind noise reduction. Outside, this is quite useful, but for stronger autumn winds, it is actually not sufficient.
Unfortunately, we did not find a noise filter that reacts to short, loud sounds. Those desiring good 3D hearing will be disappointed here. The right and left hearing aids do not coordinate with each other, and the microphones lack additional functions. This makes it difficult to reliably locate sound sources through hearing. The adjustment options in the equalizer are rather crude. The frequency response is divided into 6 segments. Within these individual areas, nothing can be changed. This might lead to some tonal weaknesses of the Key 2 ITE-DW, and the separation of speech and background noise does not achieve the quality we actually desire.
ReSound does not yet work with artificial intelligence in this version.

ReSound Key 2 ITE-DW:
Operation & connectivity
This ReSound model automatically activates most functions. However, it can be very useful to extend the functionality a little further. In the test, we found out what options we have here. For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special listening situations through it. A remote control is available for the Key 2 ITE-DW. It’s quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume option as well as various hearing programs.
Voice commands are a fairly new way to operate hearing aids. However, we do not have this feature in this model yet. That’s not a big deal – the main thing is that you can hear well. This ReSound model does not have control via a simple tap, as it would require certain sensors in the housing.
Our favorite tool for hearing aids is the app, and we really like this one. In addition to the obligatory volume controls, there are also options for sound manipulation. This greatly expands the potential of the Key 2 ITE-DW and provides relief when hearing becomes strenuous. You don’t need headphones here anymore, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to your ears – if the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Simplicity & security
Let's continue with the test: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to handle the hearing aid? We don't necessarily experience simple, comfortable hearing with the Key 2 ITE-DW. In a quieter everyday life, one can manage quite well, but as soon as one has a varied hearing day, manual adjustments are unavoidable. For beginners with hearing aids, an acclimatization manager is desirable. This ensures that the required target amplification is reached in very small, barely noticeable steps. However, this hearing aid does not have such a manager. This means we either have to cope with the necessary volume immediately, or we will need to visit the audiologist several more times over the next weeks and months for assistance.
The Key 2 ITE-DW is not equipped with a rechargeable battery, so it cannot be charged. It uses a hearing aid battery size 13. It needs to be replaced every few days.
We had a carefree everyday life in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - all without any issues. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bathwater or seawater.

ReSound Key 2 ITE-DW:
Extras
At the end of our test report, there is still a little room for the extra features: Are you among the tinnitus sufferers? Then you could use the optional tinnitus program in the Key 2 ITE-DW. Soft, gentle sounds are tuned to your hearing and occupy all areas of the inner ear. It's nothing more than a distraction tactic, and it works surprisingly well. The tinnitus fades into the general noise and no longer bothers. This is a simple but effective tool and earns extra points from us.
A clever tool is the integrated remote service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a precious commodity. Therefore, such a remote service is absolutely appropriate. Anyone who needs a new programming of their hearing aids can easily contact the audiologist through the app and describe their hearing wishes. Via a cloud service, the professional can then send an individual setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. This definitely deserves extra points in our test.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors that can track a few personal health data. However, the Key 2 ITE-DW does not offer this. The hearing aid foregoes additional features such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or language translators. This is not really a problem, as it has no impact on the important hearing functions.
Rating Extras: 2,5
Conclusion: ReSound Key 2 ITE-DW
In the overall results, this test device ranks in the lower positions and lacks some features. We assign a grade of 3.51. For less demanding listeners, this is acceptable, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
