In our test, we typically start with the analysis of comfort features. A comfortable sound is characterized by a mix of speech and background noise that is realistic and as pleasant as possible. Various electronic tools take care of all the sounds. With the Insio 1 IX ITC, we find only the absolute essentials regarding listening comfort. One of the noise tools is noise suppression, which is supposed to dampen sounds like traffic noise, refrigerator hum, or PC fan noise. Here, we find the normal standard noise reduction, which is not specifically configurable. You will need to see if that is sufficient for you.
The impulse sound management is not really recommendable in this device. Short, loud noises still sound quite harsh. This hearing aid can detect wind noise, but the reduction is barely noticeable. The microphones in the Insio 1 IX ITC can be directed forward in the line of sight. However, that is the only thing that slightly supports spatial hearing. We also take a look at the number of equalizer bands: the device from Signia offers 8. We are not really happy with this; the possibilities for sound shaping are quite limited. But it is sufficient for good speech understanding.

Individual adjustment options can be really useful, so let’s briefly look at the options available with the Insio 1 IX ITC: A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can adjust it louder or quieter in several steps. Additional programs for specific listening situations can also be activated with it. Those who wish to forgo the button can simply have it disabled. A remote control is available for the Insio 1 IX ITC. It is quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume up-down option as well as different listening programs.
The modern form of control via voice command is not yet found in the Insio 1 IX ITC. Control of the hearing aids with a simple fingertip is not available in this Signia model, as it would have required certain sensors in the housing.
The app is definitely very useful. Anyone with a smartphone should download it. Even though the app is not one of our favorites, it is still a helpful addition to the Insio 1 IX ITC. We had a lot of fun with the direct, wireless streaming. This means that calls from the smartphone are transmitted to the hearing aids without additional accessories. This transforms the hearing aid into the perfect hands-free system or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is incredibly comfortable.

An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its practicality in everyday life. This includes, for example, automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. The automatic situation recognition is supposed to make listening easier. However, the Insio 1 IX ITC struggles with changing or difficult acoustic environments, as it lacks some adaptive algorithms. Additionally, it is recommended to have some extra hearing programs set up for this device. The adjustment to the new hearing experience is supported by a fully automatic acclimatization manager that gradually adjusts the amplification until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I just need to wear my hearing aids regularly.
The Insio 1 IX ITC gets its energy from small disposable batteries that need to be changed every few days. While this is not rocket science, it should be considered, especially in case of motor problems. A rechargeable battery would be much easier to handle.
We had a carefree everyday experience in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This means that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We walked through the rain and then took the hearing aids out with wet hands - not a problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bathwater or saltwater.

But before we come to the end, we want to know if there are any additional features: Signia has integrated a noise generator that plays soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a little more relaxation.
We find the remote maintenance service exciting, which can be utilized. If one does not have the opportunity to visit the audiologist, they can contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If that sounds good, they load it onto their hearing aids.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Signia model lacks the sensors for this service. The device from Signia focuses on the essential hearing functions and does not offer extras like voice assistants or translation functions. While that would have been fun, it is not necessary for a good hearing experience.
