Here we take a look at a hearing aid at the highest quality level that is worn in the ear. It is called Evolv AI 2400 IIC and comes from the manufacturer Starkey. It can be used by all people who have both mild and more severe hearing needs and desire a delicate, barely noticeable hearing aid. Due to its location in the ear canal, very close to the eardrum, it has very good sound properties.
Hearing comfort
First, we looked at the comfort features. The better these are, the easier and more pleasant the listening experience is. With this hearing aid, we were impressed by the excellent sound management. Traditional noise suppression ensures that uniform, insignificant sounds are slightly reduced. The Evolv AI 2400 IIC features one of the most powerful noise suppression systems on the market. Some hearing aids reach their limits when the wind sweeps over the microphones outside. This can become quite loud. However, Starkey has something to counter this, namely a strongly attenuating, adjustable wind noise suppression. It works very well and helps all those who enjoy being outdoors.
Even in more affordable hearing aids, we often find a damping for impulsive, clattering noises today. Unfortunately, this smart tool is not included here, which is quite a pity. Hearing aids like the Evolv AI 2400 IIC maintain the natural spatial perception we have experienced since childhood. The function of the outer ear, head size, head shadow effects - all these parameters create a true, authentic 3D listening experience. For a precise, lifelike listening experience, the number of adjustable frequency bands is of great importance. With 24, this Starkey device is a true top model and allows for differentiated fine-tuning over several years.
Artificial intelligence is also utilized in the signal processing of the Evolv AI 2400 IIC. This enables a far more realistic analysis of the auditory environment, and above all, clarity in noisy surroundings is significantly improved.

Operation & connectivity
Every person has their own unique hearing needs. Therefore, it is beneficial to be able to customize hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In our test, we discovered the following access options: We searched in vain for a button as a quick access option. It has probably fallen victim to the small size. This is manageable, as the hearing aid makes most adjustments automatically anyway. There is no remote control for this model, which we find very unfortunate.
In the test, we did not find any option for voice control. This feature is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple tap of a finger in this Starkey model, as specific sensors would have been needed in the housing for that.
The app is not one of our highlights. But at least there is one. And in times when almost every hearing aid user also owns a smartphone, this is definitely useful. If you were looking forward to wireless streaming, we unfortunately have to disappoint you, as a wireless module was unfortunately not integrated here.

Usability is the next aspect we want to address. It's about practicality in everyday life and the question of how easy and safe it is to navigate life with a hearing aid. A balanced situational automatic is the most important point we look at when it comes to simplicity. After all, nobody wants to constantly fiddle with their hearing aid. The Evolv AI 2400 IIC has proven in tests to accompany us comfortably and reliably through our hearing daily life. With its excellent fully automatic feature, this device is a real highlight. Very important to us in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization period. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. Our test device features an acclimatization manager that assists us with very small volume adjustments throughout the adjustment phase. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
We regret that the Evolv AI 2400 IIC does not have a rechargeable battery but operates with size 10 hearing aid batteries. This is not particularly problematic, but one should remember to carry spare batteries. On the other hand: This hearing aid does not need to be charged daily; it can run for a longer time on a single battery.
Hearing aids are exposed to external influences. However, this model does not have any special coating against moisture or dust. This is unusual nowadays and surprises us. Therefore, optimal care is essential here.

Finally, let's take a brief look to see if there are any extras: The tinnitus program is definitely worth mentioning. It will benefit anyone who is troubled by annoying ear noise. Pleasant, soft sounds are adjusted to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus fades into the background noise and is no longer bothersome at all.
Online services are becoming increasingly commonplace. There is often a remote maintenance service for hearing aids as well. However, Starkey has not yet included this for its Evolv AI 2400 IIC. This means you have to go to the specialty store every time you want to have your hearing aid reprogrammed. No extra point for that.
Many hearing aids still come with a few health functions today. However, since the Evolv AI 2400 IIC does not have specific sensors for this, we cannot present any special features here. Other hearing aids do offer some advanced options such as a fall alert or reminder functions. We do not find that here, but that is not so dramatic, as the regular hearing functions are still the most important.
