Due to its barely noticeable position in the back part of the ear canal, the foundation for good hearing success is established, as the sound has only a very short distance to travel to the eardrum. This ensures that all sounds reach us exactly where we want them.

We looked at what control options the Genesis AI 16 IIC NW offers: First, we are interested in whether there is a button on the device. Unfortunately, we are disappointed with the IIC NW as there is no immediate adjustment option. Is the Genesis AI 16 remote controllable? Unfortunately not, there is no suitable device available for that.
In the test, we found no option for voice control. While this function is not absolutely necessary, we would have appreciated it nonetheless. Another option to control the hearing aids is tap control. This involves simply tapping your fingers on your ear, which in turn triggers a specific function. However, this feature is not available in this Starkey device.
The app is not one of our highlights. But at least - there is one. And in times when nearly every hearing aid user also owns a smartphone, this is definitely useful. A wireless connection to the smartphone or laptop is not possible as the corresponding hardware components are missing. You should carefully consider whether you can do without this feature, but feel free to try it out.

However, those who frequently experience changing acoustic environments should have the manual additional programs configured. A big plus point goes to the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly eases the adjustment to the new sound.
The Genesis AI 16 IIC NW is not rechargeable; it operates with hearing aid batteries. Unlike rechargeable batteries, there is no need to charge it daily, but the size 10 battery needs to be replaced after a few days.
The hearing aid has been rated IP68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against the ingress of dust. Water also cannot easily harm the hearing aid. This makes it well-equipped for outdoor activities where it can get wet and dirty. However, you should not necessarily bathe or swim with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can alter the composition and ultimately cause damage.

In mobile times like these, a remote maintenance service via an app would be very helpful. This would allow one to comfortably create a new hearing aid programming from home. Unfortunately, this service is not available for the Genesis AI 16 IIC NW. Therefore, for any desired changes, one must still visit the specialist store.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Genesis AI 16 IIC NW. The hearing aid also does not include additional functions such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or language translators.
