This test report is about the B Insera 3 10 NW O. It was developed by Unitron and covers mild to moderate hearing losses. This version is worn in the ear. The B Insera 3 10 NW O is a miniaturized hearing aid, about 1 cm long, from the lower mid-range. We achieve clear sound transmission through the natural, cleverly chosen fit directly in the ear canal.
Hearing comfort
Just as important as speech understanding is listening comfort. After all, our environment should sound as realistic and pleasant as possible. So let’s take a look at the sound management: In this model, which Unitron offers here, solid comfort programming by the audiologist is possible. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to reduce tiring background noises. In the B Insera 3 10 NW O, we have to settle for a minimum level of noise suppression. Wind noise is always an issue when the hearing aid microphones are a bit exposed. With the B Insera 3 10 NW O, this is not a problem at all, as it has an intelligent, effective wind noise suppression. This not only reduces the audible turbulence but also preserves speech understanding.
Moreover, we are surprised at how well the impulse sound management works here. Nothing bangs, nothing rattles – very good! Hearing aids like the B Insera 3 10 NW O maintain the natural spatial perception that we have learned from childhood. The function of the auricle, head size, head shadow effects - all these parameters create a genuine, original 3D hearing experience. While the B Insera 3 10 NW O doesn’t have a lot of adjustable equalizer bands, the 12 should suffice for a good listening experience.
An exciting topic in audiology is the use of artificial intelligence, but this feature is not yet applied in this Unitron model.

Operation & connectivity
The control options for hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as one would like. The basic functions are, of course, fully automated. We wanted to know how to access the B Insera 3 10 NW O further as a user. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can adjust the volume in several levels. Additional programs for special hearing situations can also be activated with it. If you want to do without the button, you can simply have it deactivated. A very practical option is the small remote control, which is available optionally. For us, that's one of the most convenient ways to increase or decrease the volume of the hearing aid or switch to another hearing program. No one notices it; there is no need to reach for the ear.
Voice commands are a fairly new way of operating hearing aids. However, we do not have this feature in this model yet. That's not a big deal - the main thing is that one can hear well. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control could be conceivable, which would involve triggering a specific function by tapping the ear with your fingers. However, this option is not available in the B Insera 3 10 NW O.
An additional app for individual control would be nice, but it is currently not offered for this hearing aid. Unfortunately, the smartphone cannot connect to the hearing aid, as the corresponding equipment with a radio antenna is missing.

The B Insera 3 10 NW O is not rechargeable. It continues to get its energy from disposable size 10 batteries, which need to be changed every few days.
The data sheet certifies the Unitron device with an IP protection class rating of 68. This makes it one of the most durable hearing aids on the market. Dust has no chance, and water does not penetrate the housing unless submerged deeper than 1.5 meters. Still, be cautious. Shampoo, for example, alters the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. However, in everyday life, you can behave quite carefree.

Let's see how it is with this Unitron device: Unitron has integrated a noise generator that plays a few soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.

Such online services save the trip to the specialist shop because you can directly contact an acoustics professional through the app. Unfortunately, we could not find such a service for the B Insera 3 10 NW O. That's a shame, it would have been a great additional tool.
Many hearing aids still have a few health functions today. However, since the B Insera 3 10 NW O does not have any special sensors for this, we cannot present any special features here. The hearing aid does not include additional functions like special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or speech translators. That is not too bad, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
