Our testers have examined another hearing aid at a lower price level. We present: the Unitron B Stride 1 P R. Here we have a once widely used hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It can be used by anyone looking to compensate for mild, moderate, and more significant hearing needs. The B Stride 1 P R is a completely normal, medium-sized hearing aid. Is it worth buying this model? We will reveal the details.
Hearing comfort
What is most bothersome for hearing aid users: Exactly, the background noise. Therefore, let's first take a look at the comfort features included in the test device. The B Stride 1 P R allows for solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional. A normal noise reduction feature is definitely present. It is designed to dampen constant sounds like street noise or the hum of an air conditioner. In our test device from Unitron, the manufacturer has integrated a simple noise reduction, but it cannot be further adjusted.
Once you've experienced impulse sound suppression in a hearing aid, you don’t want to give it up. The B Stride 1 P R has such a feature and can therefore handle all short and intense sound events quite effortlessly. This includes, for example, the clattering of dishes in the kitchen or footfall noise on a hard floor. We are impressed with how effectively wind noise is suppressed by this hearing aid and how stable the device functions even in stronger winds. A solid foundation for programming the B Stride 1 P R is provided by the 12 equalizer bands. As sound junkies, we wish for a few more, but for the typical situations we encounter in our daily lives, it can already create a reasonable sound profile. The hearing aid automatically decides whether the microphones should focus on a speaker or not. It provides a decent spatial impression, but accurately assigning directions or assessing distances through hearing is not so easy.
An exciting topic in hearing acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this Unitron model.

Every person has their own unique hearing needs. It is therefore advantageous to be able to customize hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In our test, we discovered the following access options: First, we found a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it is the simplest and fastest way to make a change. The volume can be adjusted through it, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If you prefer not to adjust anything directly on your ear, you can of course deactivate the button. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This way, you can discreetly make small adjustments to the volume or sound.
We really enjoyed the voice control while testing the B Stride 1 P R. Most of us are already used to talking to our watch or car. This function fits into a high-tech product worn on the ear. With sensor technology, Unitron is taking an innovative approach and opening up entirely new possibilities. For example, there is a tap control for the B Stride 1 P R. Just tap briefly, but noticeably, with your flat hand or a few fingers on your ear shell. The hearing aid can then perform a specific function, such as switching to a special setting. Your audiologist can configure this according to your preferences.
Manual operation includes an app. This allows you to access the hearing aid unobtrusively. In addition to volume control, you can also adjust hearing programs and a few other functions. You no longer need headphones here, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to your ears – provided the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Simplicity & security
Now let's take a look at how the use of the device is in everyday life. Is the handling easy? Do I get a safe device? An automatic environmental adjustment would certainly be helpful in everyday life, but unfortunately, it is not provided in the B Stride 1 P R. Therefore, we have to rely on the manual adjustment options. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly eases the adjustment to the new sound.
An extremely useful development in recent years is the integrated battery, in our opinion. We are used to recharging electronic devices in our daily lives. The B Stride 1 P R is also rechargeable, so we can do without the annoying battery changes.
The B Stride 1 is nearly dust and water-resistant and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.

Before we reach the end, let's take a look at the extras: A special tinnitus program can be customized in the B Stride 1 P R upon request. This allows stimulating, pleasant sounds to be generated that distract from tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and gladly give extra points.
A very good additional benefit comes from the remote maintenance offer. Through the app, you can contact your audiologist and explain your hearing problem. They can then adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long commute, this is a great service.
If Unitron had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even take place. However, this is not the case here. These points lose value for the B Stride 1 P R. This Unitron hearing aid has no additional lifestyle options onboard. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need that for good hearing. It would have just made the product a little cooler.
