Once again, we focus on a hearing aid from the company Unitron. This time it is a traditional behind-the-ear hearing aid called B Stride 7 P R. It is a normally sized hearing aid, and it comes at quite a high price. It can be used for mild, moderate, and even strong hearing needs. Let’s take a look at what the internal components have to offer:
Hearing comfort
What is most annoying for hearing aid users? Exactly, background noise. That’s why we first look at the comfort features included in the test device. The manufacturer provides customers with comprehensive noise management in the B Stride 7 P R. Normal noise suppression is definitely present. It is designed to dampen constant sounds like street noise or the hum of the air conditioning. In our test device from Unitron, the noise suppression works quite well. There are other models that can reduce background noise much more effectively, but this one should be sufficient for everyday hearing needs.
Crackling, metallic sounds don’t stand a chance in this hearing aid; they are significantly dampened using a multi-stage tool. Wind can greatly affect hearing comfort outdoors when it sweeps across the microphones. But the B Stride 7 P R has efficient wind noise suppression integrated. It works really well and will delight those who enjoy spending time outside. It can be adjusted in several stages to meet personal needs. With 20 channels, the frequency band count in the B Stride 7 P R is very high. This allows the hearing aid to be perfectly tuned to any hearing ability and offers good long-term tuning options. Spatial hearing works very reliably. Directional hearing is supported, and the spatial impression is good.
Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but the B Stride 7 P R does not yet employ this strategy.

Operation & connectivity
The majority of hearing aids automatically adjust to their surroundings. Nevertheless, it is sometimes very practical to be able to make changes yourself. After all, the hearing aid doesn’t know how you are feeling at the moment. We looked at the control options offered by the B Stride 7 P R: For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume up or down, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special hearing situations through this. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows for discreet small changes in volume or sound.
This device from Unitron can be controlled by voice command. This very modern way of operating hearing aids is indeed convenient and, above all, very fast. We are really excited about the tap control. A quick tap with the fingers on the ear, and the hearing aid switches to another mode. With this model, Unitron is quite ahead of others. In our view, the tap control is not only contemporary but also very convenient.
The app is definitely very useful. Anyone with a smartphone should download it. Even though the app is not among our favorites, it is still a useful addition to the B Stride 7 P R. You don’t need headphones here anymore, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to your ears – if the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

How does one manage with the hearing aid in everyday life? This is the next aspect we will evaluate. Because only when such a device functions easily and straightforwardly can one accommodate it. Hearing in everyday life is facilitated by the good program automation in the B Stride 7 P R. It is rarely necessary to use the manual hearing programs, as the automation already covers many situations. Very important in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization process. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. In our test device, there is an acclimatization manager that helps us with very small volume adjustments throughout the adjustment phase. After several weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
An extremely useful development of recent years, in our opinion, is the integrated battery. In our daily lives, we are accustomed to recharging electronic devices. And the B Stride 7 P R is rechargeable as well, allowing us to avoid the annoying battery replacement.
The B Stride 7 is almost dust and water-resistant and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.

Sometimes, hearing aids come with additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this Unitron device: Unitron has integrated a noise generator that plays soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
A very good additional benefit comes from the remote maintenance service. Through the app, you can contact your hearing care professional and describe your hearing issue. They can then adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long commute, this is a great service.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Unitron model lacks the sensors for this service. Other hearing aids already have a few expanded options like a fall alert or reminder functions. We don’t find that here, and that's not too dramatic, as the normal hearing functions are still the most important.
