The Unitron V Stride 1 P R in review
Once again, we are dealing with a hearing aid from the company Unitron. This time, it is a standard hearing aid with a thick or thin plastic tube behind the ear, named V Stride 1 P R. It is a conventionally sized hearing aid, and in terms of pricing, it falls into the lower mid-range. It can be used for both mild and stronger hearing needs. Let’s see what the inside has to offer:
Hearing comfort
In our test, we usually start with the analysis of comfort features. A comfortable sound is characterized by a mix of speech and background noises that is realistic and as pleasant as possible. Various electronic tools take care of all the sounds. With the V Stride 1 P R, solid comfort programming by the audiologist is possible. One of the noise tools is noise suppression, which is supposed to dampen sounds like traffic noise, refrigerator hum, or PC fan noise. Here, only a very slight noise reduction is included.
Furthermore, we are surprised at how well the impulse sound management works here. Nothing cracks, nothing clatters – very good! Wind can significantly reduce hearing comfort outdoors when it rushes over the microphones. But the V Stride 1 P R has efficient wind noise suppression integrated. It works really great and will impress people who enjoy being outside. It can be adjusted in several stages to meet individual needs. The hearing aid automatically decides whether the microphones should focus on a speaker or not. You get a decent spatial impression, but accurately assigning directions or estimating distances through hearing is not so easy. While the V Stride 1 P R doesn't really have many adjustable equalizer bands, the 12 should be sufficient for a good hearing result.
Speech in noisy environments is always a challenge. Unitron addresses this issue with the use of artificial intelligence. The result is brilliant and clear speech transmission while background noises still come through realistically loud to the ear.

Operation & connectivity
The operation options for hearing aids are today as simple or as complex as one might wish. The basic functions run fully automatically, of course. We wanted to know how, as a user, one can additionally access the V Stride 1 P R. Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found it on the V Stride 1 as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be disabled if desired. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very practical. For us, it's one of the most convenient ways to adjust the hearing aid louder or quieter or switch to another listening program. No one notices; reaching for the ear is unnecessary.
The modern form of operation via voice command is not yet found in the V Stride 1 P R. Another option to control the hearing aids is a tap control. Here, one simply taps their fingers on the ear, which in turn triggers a specific function. However, this possibility does not exist in this Unitron device.
The app is definitely very useful. Anyone with a smartphone should download it. Even if the app is not one of our favorites, it is still a valuable addition to the V Stride 1 P R. For our digital everyday life, a streaming option would be nice. The current device meets our desire and includes a 2.4 GHz wireless module. This allows phone calls and sounds to be sent directly from the smartphone to the hearing aids.

Simplicity & security
No matter how great the hearing aid sounds: nothing is more uncomfortable than a product that constantly presents obstacles in our daily lives. Therefore, simplicity and safety are very important topics in our hearing aid tests: An automatic environmental adjustment would certainly be helpful in everyday life, but unfortunately, it is not provided in the V Stride 1 P R. Thus, we have to rely on the manual adjustment options. The adaptation to the new hearing experience is supported by this device with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely balanced. I just need to wear my hearing aids regularly.
The V Stride 1 P R is rechargeable and no longer requires hearing aid batteries. This is environmentally friendly, as there are no old batteries to dispose of. At the same time, it is also extremely convenient, as no spare batteries need to be carried. The hearing aids simply go into the charging station in the evening and are ready for use the next morning.
The V Stride 1 is nearly dustproof and waterproof, and with its IP 68 rating, it is certainly well protected against external influences.

Unitron V Stride 1 P R:
Extras
We complete the test by checking if there are a few extras for you: Are you one of the tinnitus sufferers? Then you might use the optional tinnitus program in the V Stride 1 P R. Quiet, gentle sounds are tailored to your hearing and engage all areas in the inner ear. It's nothing more than a distraction maneuver, and it works remarkably well. The tinnitus fades into the general noise and no longer bothers you. This is a simple but effective tool and earns extra points from us.
A very good added benefit comes from the remote maintenance service. Through the app, you can contact your audiologist and describe your hearing problem. They can then change the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long commute, this is a great service.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Unitron model lacks the sensors for this service. It would have been nice to have a few lifestyle features, but they are not available in the V Stride 1 P R. Other hearing aids may excel with language translators or fall alerts, but here it remains within the usual functional range.
