This test report is about the Moment 330 CIC-M. It was developed by Widex and covers moderate, severe, and changing hearing losses. This variant is worn in the ear. The Moment 330 CIC-M is a lightweight, hardly visible and barely noticeable hearing aid from the upper price segment. We achieve clear sound transmission through the discreet, very deep position in the ear canal.
Hearing comfort
In the section on hearing comfort, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noise. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. With this Widex device, solid comfort programming is possible through the audiologist. The regular noise reduction has the task of dampening uniform, rumbling background noises. The Moment 330 CIC-M handles noise reduction quite well. While there are other models that reduce background noise more effectively, this one should be sufficient for everyday hearing.
Pulsating sounds often occur in daily life. There's the dishwasher that needs to be unloaded, or the keys that are placed on the table. The Moment 330 CIC-M features strong impulse sound management that makes these sounds bearable. This model can forego wind noise management. The hearing aid sits so far in the ear canal that wind noises do not become a problem. The particular design of the Moment 330 CIC-M proves to be a stroke of luck when it comes to spatial hearing. The microphones are positioned deep in the ear canal, and that's exactly where sound reaches normal-hearing individuals. Therefore, spatial hearing does not need to be artificially recreated; it occurs naturally. The Moment 330 CIC-M has 12 adjustable frequency bands, placing it in the mid-range. A good audiologist can certainly extract a reasonable sound from it.
The signal processing is based, among other things, on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet employed here.

Operation & connectivity
Almost everyone of us owns a smartphone, which raises the question of whether it can be connected to the new hearing aid. Let's take a look at the connectivity and usability of the Moment 330 CIC-M. Often, there is a button on the hearing aid, but we found none on this model. Sometimes, this control element is omitted in favor of a smaller design. This is not too dramatic, as most functions in the hearing aid operate automatically anyway. Remote controls for hearing aids are actually common today, but Widex has not provided one for this device.
The modern method of operation via voice command is not yet found in the Moment 330 CIC-M. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple tap, as this Widex model would have needed certain sensors in the casing for that.
Widex does offer an appropriate app for easier operation. However, it is not particularly well-equipped and barely goes beyond the basic functions like volume and hearing programs. There are no connection options to other audio sources provided here. It's a pity, as a wireless streaming function would have offered real added value.

We are also interested in how quickly one can adapt to the Moment 330 CIC-M and how easy daily use is. A reliable situational automation gives the Moment 330 CIC-M important points in terms of simplicity. Most hearing situations are well recognized, so manual adjustments are rarely necessary. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.
The Moment 330 CIC-M relies on battery power instead of rechargeable batteries. Advantage: Very long runtime with a battery. Unlike rechargeable solutions, you rarely have to worry about the power supply. Disadvantage: Waste is generated in the form of used batteries. This hearing aid uses a hearing aid battery size 10.
The Moment 330 is nearly dustproof and waterproof and is certainly well protected against external influences with its IP 68 classification.

Extras
Finally, let's briefly check if there are any extras: Widex has integrated a noise generator that plays some soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can help distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
A nice feature would be a remote maintenance service to get help from a hearing professional even when you can't visit the store. But unfortunately, this is not available here, so there are no extra points for it.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Widex model lacks the sensors for this service. It would have been nice to have some lifestyle features, but those are currently not available in the 330 CIC-M. Other hearing aids may score points with speech translators or fall alarms, but here it remains within the usual range of functions.
