The Audio Service G5 4 Duo Li-Ion in review
Dieses Hörgerät wurde in seiner Gesamtnote mit einem Abschlag versehen, da es schon ein wenig älter ist. Es gibt bereits deutlich neuere Hörtechniken von diesem und anderen Herstellern.
Our testers have examined another entry-level hearing aid. We present: the Audio Service G5 4 Duo Li-Ion. Here we have a traditional hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It can be used by anyone looking to compensate for moderate hearing loss. The G5 4 Duo Li-Ion is a discreet hearing aid. Is it worth buying this model? We will reveal the details.
Hearing comfort
Good speech understanding is a given in modern hearing aids. Equally important is hearing comfort. Only when the ratio of speech transmission to the level of background noise is balanced can hearing be experienced as pleasant. Therefore, let’s take a look at the comfort features: The G5 4 Duo Li-Ion provides only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. Normal ambient noises such as street noise, vacuum cleaner sounds, or sounds from a fan should be dampened by classic noise suppression. In this Audio Service hearing aid, we have to settle for a minimum level of noise suppression.
A pulse sound suppressor is unfortunately not included in the G5 4 Duo Li-Ion. Unfortunately, this hearing aid still lacks wind noise suppression. Too bad. We are quite far from a 3D surround sound experience here. Only the switchable front focus offers a bit of hearing support in social situations. Let’s also take a look at the number of equalizer bands: The device from Audio Service comes with 8. We are not really happy with this; the options for sound shaping are quite limited. But for good speech understanding, it is sufficient.
Other hearing aids are already using artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy is not yet present in the G5 4 Duo Li-Ion.
Rating Hearing comfort: 5,2
Operation & connectivity
Almost every one of us owns a smartphone, so the question arises whether it can also be connected to the new hearing aid. Let’s take a look at the G5 4 Duo Li-Ion in terms of connectivity and usability. There is a button directly on the hearing aid. This allows you to change the volume or activate additional listening programs. It can be programmed according to the customer’s wishes. The use is, of course, optional. A remote control is available for the G5 4 Duo Li-Ion. It's quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume control option as well as different listening programs.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Audio Service unfortunately cannot yet. It would be practical if your fingers are no longer very mobile or if you simply like smart gadgets. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tap control. You simply tap on your ear with your fingers, which triggers a specific function. However, this option is not available in this Audio Service device.
In the app stores, there is a free app that can be used if desired. We tried it out and were relatively quick to get through it. The range of functions is rather modest. Nevertheless, it is a convenient and inconspicuous way to temporarily adjust the G5 4 Duo Li-Ion. The G5 4 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy binaural phone calls, which even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We find this good and are happy to give points.

Simplicity & security
We are also interested in how quickly one can get along with the G5 4 Duo Li-Ion and how easy daily use is. When it comes to adapting to changing listening situations, we have to limit ourselves to the manual options with the G5 4 Duo Li-Ion. An automatic situation recognition would have definitely made life easier, but it is not available here. Very important to us in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization phase. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it is sometimes difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. Our test device includes an acclimatization manager that helps us with very small volume adjustments throughout the acclimatization period. After several weeks or months, we have then reached the calculated gain level.
A great relief in everyday life is the integrated battery. This means my G5 4 Duo Li-Ion always has enough energy for the whole day, and I no longer have to worry that the batteries will suddenly run out in the middle of an event. Even with limited dexterity, a battery system is very helpful because there is no need to insert small button cells.
We had a carefree everyday life in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took the hearing aids out with wet hands - no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to foamy bath water or seawater.

Audio Service G5 4 Duo Li-Ion:
Extras
Before we finish, let's take a look at the extras: First, we check for a special tinnitus program. Tinnitus is a troubling topic for many people. However, we did not find any option for tinnitus relief in the G5 4 Duo Li-Ion.
Online services are becoming increasingly commonplace. There is often a remote maintenance service for hearing aids as well. However, Audio Service has not yet provided such a service for its G5 4 Duo Li-Ion. This means you have to go to the specialist store every time you want to reprogram your hearing aid. No extra point for that.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, it requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the G5 4 Duo Li-Ion. This Audio Service hearing aid does not have any additional lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need that for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
