The Hansaton flow+ 13 P in review
What exactly can the flow+ 13 P from the manufacturer Hansaton do? First of all, it is a traditional hearing aid that sits behind the ear. It covers moderate, severe, and changing hearing losses. This model is a conventionally sized hearing aid from the basic price segment. What can it achieve in everyday hearing? What comfort features does it come with? We took a closer look at this.
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how pleasant hearing is experienced in everyday life. In this hearing aid, we found only limited options for comfort adjustment. A classic noise suppression aims to reduce annoying background sounds to a tolerable level. We are satisfied with the effectiveness of noise suppression in the flow+ 13 P. It can not only be turned on or off but also adjusted in stages. Unfortunately, this hearing aid still does not have wind noise suppression. Too bad.
When clattering, rattling noises occur, the Hansaton device activates its impulse sound damper. Nevertheless, these sounds remain quite intense. In our tests, we also look at spatial hearing. While adaptive microphones are integrated here, the wireless connection between both ears is missing, preventing true 3D hearing from being reconstructed. However, one can manage quite well. With a little practice, directional hearing can be retrained. We always take a close look at the number of equalizer bands. They are important for adjusting the sound of a hearing aid as accurately as possible to the hearing curve. Additionally, speech noise management also takes place within these bands. The flow+ 13 P has 12 of them. That's okay.
Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but this device has not yet reached that level.

Hansaton flow+ 13 P:
Operation & connectivity
Most functions are activated automatically by this Hansaton model. However, it is sometimes very useful to have the option to expand the functionality a bit further. In the test, we found out what options we have here. There is a button directly on the hearing aid. With it, you can adjust the volume or activate additional hearing programs. It can be programmed according to customer preferences. The use is of course optional. There is no remote control available for this model, which we find very disappointing.
In the test, we found no option for voice control. This feature is not necessarily needed but would have pleased us nonetheless. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple tap, as this Hansaton model would have required specific sensors in the casing.
We searched in the app store in vain for an app for further adjustments, which we had wished for differently. Unfortunately, wireless connectivity options are completely missing in this version. This is no longer quite up-to-date, but it is probably due to the small size of the hearing aid.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 3,5

Simplicity & security
An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its practicality for everyday use. This includes, for example, automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. When it comes to adapting to changing listening situations, we have to limit ourselves to manual options with the flow+ 13 P. An automatic situation recognition would have definitely made life easier, but it is not available here. Very important for us in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization process. Particularly after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. In our test device, there is an acclimatization manager that helps us with very small volume adjustments throughout the adaptation phase. After a few weeks or months, we have then reached the calculated amplification level.
The flow+ 13 P is not rechargeable. It continues to receive its energy from size 13 disposable batteries, which need to be replaced every few days.
The data sheet certifies the Hansaton device with an IP protection class of 68. This makes it one of the most robust hearing aids on the market. Dust has no chance, and water cannot penetrate the housing, as long as it is not submerged deeper than 1.5 meters. However, be cautious. Shampoo, for example, alters the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. In everyday life, however, you can act completely carefree.
Rating Simplicity & security: 3,0
Extras
Finally, let's briefly check if there are any extras: A special tinnitus program can be programmed on request in the flow+ 13 P. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and are happy to award extra points.
A nice feature would be a remote maintenance service, to receive help from the hearing professional even when you can't come into the store. Unfortunately, this is not available here, so there are no extra points.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors that can track some personal health data, for example. However, the flow+ 13 P does not offer this. The device from Hansaton focuses on essential hearing functions and does not provide extras like voice assistants or translation functions. While that would have been fun, it is not necessary for a good listening experience.
Rating Extras: 3,3
Conclusion: Hansaton flow+ 13 P
In the overall result, this test device ranks in the lower positions and lacks some features. We give it a grade of 3.58. This is acceptable for less demanding listeners, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
