The Hansaton flow+ S312 in review
This test report is about the flow+ S312. It was developed by Hansaton and covers almost every hearing need. This variant is worn behind the ear. The flow+ S312 is a very small hearing aid from the basic class. We achieve clean sound transmission through the clever decision to place the speaker directly in the ear canal.
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how pleasant hearing is perceived in everyday life. In this hearing aid, we found only limited options for influencing comfort. A classic noise suppression aims to reduce annoying background noises to a tolerable level. We are satisfied with the effectiveness of the noise suppression in the flow+ S312. It can not only be switched on or off but also adjusted in stages. We painfully missed a wind noise suppression. Those who are often outdoors may find the clearly audible wind noises quite disturbing.
Quick, sharp sounds are detected here, but only moderately reduced. We cannot generate real 3D spatial sound with the current test device. Especially outdoors, one should frequently look around to locate individual sound sources. However, focusing on a specific speaker works quite well thanks to the integrated directional microphones. A few more frequency channels would be desirable, but the existing 12 channels already allow for pretty good performance.
Sometimes we experience hearing aids that process data very successfully with the help of artificial intelligence, but this device has not yet reached that level.
Rating Hearing comfort: 4,0

Hansaton flow+ S312: The Flow+ has a fully automatic volume adjustment. If that is not enough, you can make slight adjustments using the button on the housing.
Operation & connectivity
Most hearing aids automatically adjust to their environment. However, it is sometimes very practical to be able to make changes oneself. After all, the hearing aid does not know how one is feeling at the moment. We looked at the control options available for the flow+ S312: Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found that on the flow+ as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button, and can also be disabled if desired. Unfortunately, there is no remote control available for this model, which we find very disappointing.
We do not yet find the modern form of control via voice command in the flow+ S312. Tap Control would have also been an interesting feature. With it, one could change the function with a quick tap on the ear. But this is not yet available in the flow+ S312.
If you are looking for an app, unfortunately, you will not find one here. The flow+ S312 has to get by without smart control features. That point is lost. If you were looking forward to Wireless Streaming, we regret to inform you that a wireless module has unfortunately not been integrated here.

Simplicity & security
How does one cope with the hearing aid in everyday life? This is the next aspect we need to assess. Because only when such a device functions easily and uncomplicatedly can one become accustomed to it. Unfortunately, flow+ S312 cannot provide automatic situation recognition; we have to make manual adjustments to hear well in different acoustic situations. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually raises the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly facilitates getting used to the new sound.
Unfortunately, the flow+ S312 is not equipped with a battery, so you need to regularly replace size 312 batteries for operation.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand a variety of adverse conditions. Dust cannot penetrate, it can withstand prolonged immersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.
Rating Simplicity & security: 3,0

Hansaton flow+ S312:
Extras
Sometimes hearing aids have additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this Hansaton device: Hansaton has integrated a sound generator that plays some soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
A nice feature would be a remote maintenance service, allowing one to receive help from a hearing professional even when unable to visit the store. Unfortunately, this is not available here, so there are no extra points for that.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires specific sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the flow+ S312. Other hearing aids already offer a few enhanced options like a fall alarm or reminder functions. We do not find these here, and that's not too dramatic since the normal hearing functions are still the most important.
Rating Extras: 3,3
Conclusion: Hansaton flow+ S312
In the overall result, this test device ranks in the lower positions and is missing some features. We give it a score of 3.58. For less demanding listeners, this is acceptable, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
