What exactly can the Entra A 1 BTE from the manufacturer Bernafon do? First of all, it is a traditional hearing aid that sits behind the ear. It covers a moderate and also more substantial hearing need. This model is a discreet hearing aid from the basic class. What can it achieve in everyday hearing? What comfort features does it offer? We took a closer look at it.
Hearing comfort
At least as important as speech understanding is hearing comfort. After all, we want our environment to sound as realistic and pleasant as possible. So let's take a look at noise management: In this model that Bernafon offers, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to reduce tiring background noises. The Entra A 1 BTE has only a minimal basic reduction. Users of this hearing aid should have some tolerance for noise. There is a basic wind noise reduction. Outside, this is quite useful, but it is generally not sufficient for a stronger autumn wind.
Unfortunately, we did not find a noise filter that reacts to short, loud sounds. There is no support for spatial hearing, which is a weakness of the Entra A 1 BTE. The 8 frequency channels are okay. However, it may be that the programming does not achieve the desired precision for individual hearing needs, and some compromises in sound quality might be necessary.
Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy is not yet present in the Entra A 1 BTE.

How can you fully utilize the potential of hearing aids in everyday life? We have discovered the access options available with the Entra A 1 BTE. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can adjust it to be louder or quieter in several steps. Additionally, extra programs for specific listening situations can be activated with it. If you prefer not to use the button, you can simply have it disabled. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows you to discreetly make small changes to the volume or sound.
The modern method of operation via voice command is not yet found in the Entra A 1 BTE. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control could be conceivable, which would trigger a specific function by tapping your fingers on your ear. However, this option is not available in the Entra A 1 BTE.
In the App Store, we also find a suitable application from Bernafon. The app for the Entra A 1 BTE may not be one of our highlights, but it has everything you need for your hearing systems. The Entra A 1 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. How does one manage with hearing aids in everyday life? This is the next aspect we are assessing. Because only if such a device functions simply and easily can one become accustomed to it. We would have liked the Entra A 1 BTE to have a program automation that adjusts itself to the environment. However, this is not available, so unfortunately, points are deducted here. The integrated acclimatization manager can be a great help when starting in the world of hearing aids. Its task is to gradually increase the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until the target volume is reached. This way, you can relax and gradually adapt to the new auditory impressions. The Entra A 1 BTE relies on battery power rather than rechargeable batteries. Advantage: Very long battery life. Unlike rechargeable solutions, you only have to deal with the power supply very rarely. Disadvantage: Waste is generated in the form of used batteries. This hearing aid uses a hearing aid battery size 13.
We had a carefree everyday experience in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bath water or seawater.

Davon werden all jene profitieren, die von lästigen Ohrgeräuschen geplagt werden. Angenehme, leise Geräusche werden so eingestellt, dass sie den Tinnitus sanft umspielen. Am Ende versinkt der Tinnitus in der Geräuschkulisse und fällt gar nicht mehr störend auf.
Spannend finden wir den Fernwartungsdienst, den man in Anspruch nehmen kann. Wenn man keine Gelegenheit hat, zum Hörakustiker zu fahren, kontaktiert man ihn stattdessen über die App, beschreibt kurz sein Hörproblem und erhält anschließend ein Datenpaket mit einer neuen Hörgerätkonfiguration. Wenn die sich gut anhört, lädt man sie in seine Hörgeräte.
Hätte Bernafon Bewegungssensoren in dieses Hörgerät integriert, dann könnte sogar ein individuelles Gesundheits-Tracking erfolgen. Das ist hier aber nicht der Fall. Diese Punkte gehen dem Entra A 1 BTE in der Wertung verloren. Richtig gut gefallen haben uns die Zusatzfunktionen, die im Entra A 1 BTE stecken. Verschiedene Assistenten unterstützen Ihren Alltag jenseits des Hörens und lassen sich in der App konfigurieren. Solche Hörgeräte will man nicht mehr hergeben. Übrigens: An diesen Lifestyle-Funktionen wird oft noch gearbeitet, es kann also sein, dass die sich je nach Update auch mal ändern.
